{"id":79,"date":"2009-07-22T19:04:36","date_gmt":"2009-07-23T00:04:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.mageuzi.com\/blog\/?p=79"},"modified":"2009-07-23T09:38:23","modified_gmt":"2009-07-23T14:38:23","slug":"trowl-v0-2-released","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.mageuzi.com\/blog\/2009\/07\/22\/trowl-v0-2-released\/","title":{"rendered":"Trowl v0.2 released!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve been working on refining some of the details of my original release of Trowl, and after testing it over an entire weekend of Otakon, I feel confident in releasing version 0.2 today.<\/p>\n<p>This release adds most of what I outlined in my last post, as well as fixing some bugs and adding better error detection.&#160; Specifically, I added a new type of Growl for errors.&#160; If I get an error response from Twitter, or the app isn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t even able to make a connection to twitter.com, then you will get a Growl with the exact error.&#160; In a future release I will try to clean this up to be a bit more user friendly.&#160; (For example, it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s not really obvious that \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Bad Gateway\u00e2\u20ac\u009d is Twitter\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s error for server being overloaded.)<\/p>\n<p>As for actual features you can use, well: a picture is probably worth a thousand words:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/mageuzi.com\/trowl\/trowl_new_settings.png\" \/> <\/p>\n<p>These are new settings you can toggle.&#160; Two of them I outlined when version 0.1 was released: the ability to get growls of all @replies and all DMs.&#160; These are set to be enabled by default.<\/p>\n<p>As I was using Trowl with Prowl, I realized that I didn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t really need to get push notifications of my friend\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s replies to other friends.&#160; Sometimes it was something I was interested in right away \u00e2\u20ac\u201c most times it wasn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t, and I was fine waiting until later to catch up on those details.&#160; So, I added the \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Do not growl tweets that are @replies to others\u00e2\u20ac\u009d for that purpose.&#160; If you\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re not using Prowl, this setting probably isn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t as important, and is not enabled by default.<\/p>\n<p>There is still some cleaning up I want to do, and other feature ideas I might implement.&#160; I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m sure there are more bugs to find as well.&#160; In the meantime, though, feel free to download and please send your feedback.&#160; I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m <a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/mageuzi\">@mageuzi<\/a> on twitter.<\/p>\n<p> <font size=\"+1\"><a href=\"http:\/\/mageuzi.com\/trowl\/trowl02.zip\">Trowl 0.2<\/a><\/font>  <br \/>.NET Framework 3.5 required.<br \/>\nUnzip to a new folder (or replace version 0.1) and run trowl.exe \u00e2\u20ac\u201c that\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s it!<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mageuzi.com\/blog\/?p=73\">See my original Trowl annoucement<\/a> for the rest of the nitty-gritty.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve been working on refining some of the details of my original release of Trowl, and after testing it over an entire weekend of Otakon, I feel confident in releasing version 0.2 today.
