I get it: you\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re so very proud of that \u00e2\u20ac\u0153perfect click\u00e2\u20ac\u009d sound you engineered \u00e2\u20ac\u201c but that\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s not what you center a commercial around.<\/p>\n<p>This is the Microsoft Surface commercial that I would make.<\/p>\n<p>Opening shot shows an iPad on its home screen. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153This is an iPad,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d starts the voiceover. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153All your apps are laid out, ready to launch.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d The camera zooms in on one of the icons, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153You tap here to see your appointments for today.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Switch to another icon. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Tap here to get updates from your friends.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Switch to another icon. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153And you can tap here to see the weather \u00e2\u20ac\u201c because it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s not actually 73 degrees and sunny.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n<p>Camera switches to another tablet. This time it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Surface. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153This is the new Microsoft Surface,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d says the voiceover. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153All your apps are laid out, ready to launch.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d The camera zooms in, showing all the information right on screen that would have required tapping and hunting on the iPad.<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153But you don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t need to. Looks like I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ll need an umbrella for the football game today.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n<p>End.<\/p>\n<p>Sure, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.apple.com\/ipod\/videos\/#tv-ad\" target=\"_blank\">Apple\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s new iPod commercial<\/a> is just as useless as the Surface commercial. But they can get away with that because everyone knows how an iPod works. The Surface is still an unknown to most people.
